Physical Therapy
Physical therapy at Kailua Spine Center focuses on practical recovery — finding the source of limitation, building strength and stability, and giving you a clear plan to get back to the activities that matter most. Physical therapy (PT) is a healthcare specialty focusing on improving movement, reducing pain, restoring function, and preventing injury. It uses evidence-based techniques such as targeted exercise, manual therapy (hands-on treatment), education, and movement retraining to help people recover from injury, surgery, or chronic conditions. A licensed PT will assess body mechanics, identify limitations or imbalances, and design personalized treatment plans to improve strength, flexibility, balance, coordination, and overall mobility based on the patient’s complaints and goals. The purpose isn’t just symptom relief, it’s restoring safe and efficient movement for daily life, work, and recreation. Types of musculoskeletal conditions (bones, joints, muscles) treated but not limited to include: Neck and back pain Joint pain (i.e. shoulder, hip, knee, etc.) Ligament sprains and muscle strains Tendonitis and bursitis Adhesive capsulitis (i.e. frozen shoulder) Arthritis Pre and Post-surgical rehab Ligament and muscle tears Rotator cuff injuries Overuse injuries Pelvic floor dysfunction (i.e. incontinence, pre and postnatal) TMJ Vertigo, dizziness (vestibular rehabilitation) Vestibular rehabilitation (vestibular rehab) is a specialized form of physical therapy that treats dizziness, vertigo, and balance issues caused by inner ear or neurological conditions such as Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) and Vestibular neuritis. The goal is to retrain the brain and body to improve balance, reduce dizziness or vertigo, and stabilize vision. Depending on the patient’s complaints and findings, treatment may include: Canalith repositioning maneuvers (for BPPV) Gaze stabilization exercises to keep vision clear during head movement Habituation exercises to reduce motion sensitivity Balance and gait training to improve steadiness and prevent falls
